The new Core goes into effect for all new and continuing students in fall 2009. If you have been attending Canisius, here is what you must complete in order to fulfill Core requirements:
Students who began attending at Canisius in fall 2008: You must complete the entire new Core, with credit given for General Studies, Area Studies and ICD courses completed. This includes athletes who took classes at Canisius for the first time in summer 2008. The new requirements are listed below.
Students who began attending at Canisius prior to fall 2008: You must complete the requirements in the chart below, with credit given for General Studies, Area Studies and ICD courses completed:
- Foundations: All four courses (General Studies will substitute)
- Breadth of Knowledge: One course in each of the Fields (Area Studies will substitute):
- Field 1 (AS VI)
- Field 2 (AS V)
- Field 3 (AS III)
- Field 4 (AS VI
- Field 5 (AS II)
- Field 6 (AS I)
- Field 7 (AS VII)
- Diversity and Global Awareness Designated Courses: Two courses total (International and Cultural Diversity-designated courses will substitute)
