Statement of Confidentiality

The Counseling Center carefully guards your confidentiality.  No information about your appointments for counseling or about you will be released without your authorization.  Confidentiality will be broken only if it becomes apparent that you may do harm to yourself or to others or if the law requires the center to make a report.  This legal requirement pertains to (1) information subpoenaed by the courts and (2) mandatory reporting of child abuse.  Therefore, all matters discussed are confidential and are protected by the ethical and legal principles of confidentiality as defined by the American Counseling Association (ACA).
