Business Entrepreneurial Forum
Nationally renowned entrepreneurial Leonard Green will be the keynote speaker at the Canisius College Richard J. Wehle School of Business Entrepreneurial Forum to be held October 18, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Buffalo Niagara Marriott.
This biennial event will focus on family owned businesses.
Women’s Business Center Summer Social

WBC Summer Social 2005
Mark your calendars for the 3rd Annual Women’s Business Center Summer Social! This event is open to the public and will be held on August 2, 2007, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Palisano Pavilion on Canisius College Main Street campus. This event is a great way to catch up and network with your old classmates and WBC friends. We will be serving hors d’oeuvres and refreshments and giving awards to the Networker, Training Participant, Coach and Protégé of the Year. Canisius College External Business Programs nominated Kathleen M. Balus, president, Pioneer Credit Recovery Inc., Canisius College Trustee, and 2006 Women’s Leadership Conference honorary chair, for the 2007 YWCA Leaders Luncheon Award in the category of entrepreneur. Kathy so deservedly won. Congratulations Kathy!!!

Western New York Service Learning Coalition
A hardworking group representing 17 colleges, universities and not for profits worked diligently to produce the first strategic plan for Western New York Service Learning Coalition.
Kaminsky Selected for National KeyBank Panel
Loretta Kaminsky, assistant director of the Women's Business Center, has been named to the Key4Women, KeyBank's women-owned business banking program 2007 National Advisory Board.
Established in 2006, the group assists women business owners about issues such as financial solutions, educational offerings, networking and customized services.
KeyBank recently pledged to provide $2 billion in capital to women-owned businesses over the next five years.
Sanderson Elected to National Board
Melinda Rath Sanderson, executive director of the Canisius College Women’s Business Center, has been elected to the Board of Directors for the Association of Women’s Business Centers (AWBC). The AWBC is a national not-for-profit organization representing women’s business centers and women business owners.

Women’s Business CenterCOACHING
This one-year program is designed to help you take your business to the next level. The program begins in September and runs for 12 months. You will be matched with a coach based on skill set and receive one-on-one mentoring and work through a detailed work plan. Space is limited and selection is based on the candidate’s application, interview, and dedication to the program. You must have been actively in business for two years and have a business plan to be considered.An Open House will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2007 from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. for the Business Coaching Program at the Women’s Business Center - Demerly Hall, Room 201, 2365 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14214.COUNSELING
This weekly no-cost business counseling meets every Wednesday at 12 noon at Demerly Hall. Any current or potential small business owner can come for a needs assessment, and to receive direction, guidance, and assistance. The facilitators of this group will be qualified small business counselors. No RSVP or registration required! NETWORKING
WIN – Women in Networking
Six WIN groups meet at different times and locations, all once a month for one hour. WIN is designed for women in business to learn how to network, pass leads, support, motivate, and inspire each other. This peer-to-peer mentoring model includes non-competitive businesses and each group is limited in size. Additional benefits are creative problem-solving, brainstorming, strategic planning, and organizational development.
