Overview: Program will prepare students for Home Automation field. Topics including Home Networking, Home Theater, Security, Wiring, Cabling, Programming, and Lighting control will be covered.


Module 1 – Computer Hardware Repair and Software Understanding, Network topics and Home networking principles.  You will gain working knowledge of setting up Home Networks and applying security for wireless and wired computers.

Module 2 – Wiring installation, cable components, connector identification, connector installation as well as basic electricity.  Codes and regulation in regard to safety will be taught.

Module 3 – Home Theater installations, floor planning installations with various software programs.  You will work with unfinished (only studs) and finished rooms for audio and theater setups. 

Module 4 – Home Security.  You will learn various home security designs, video surveillance options, smoke/detection Systems, and various options for wireless and hardwire design features.

Module 5 – Programming and Development.  Basic programming principles will be taught along with instruction to various programming languages used to automate touch screen panels and control functions in the home.  Hands on knowledge will be gained.

Module 6 – Home Automation products, wireless X-10, HAL, tough screen panels and home lighting controls.

Module 7 – Customer Planning.  You will learn communication techniques, planning a work order and customer preparation.  Students will focus on becoming a professional in the field and working to keep customer’s satisfaction high.
