The Canisius journal of literary and visual arts is a medium in which students may publish their own pieces or work as editors, gaining real-world publishing skills. Learn more.
Internships
Internships with local literary publishers, such as White Pine Press, and with local arts organizations, such as Just Buffalo Literary Center, gives you the opportunity to participate in the vibrant Buffalo literary scene and to acquire professional experience as writers, teachers, editors, and administrators.
Living Learning Community
A living learning community gives you an opportunity to live with those who have similar majors, interests, and passions. You can attend programs that are personalized and incorporate academics into the Residence Hall.
Creative Writing Floor
Students on this floor have access to a lounge that is modified to be a peaceful writing and study area. Personalized writing workshops with faculty will be available as well as off-campus opportunities to share their works at local businesses, attend movie nights, and participate in community service. You will have the chance to take part in:
- Community writing hours
- Coffeehouse readings of your work
- Special workshops with Writing professors
- Writing-based community service
Post-graduate study
Graduates of the creative writing program have gone on to study creative writing at some of the country’s best graduate writing programs:
