Practica and InternshipsNew York State requires field experience in all four developmental areas from birth through age 21. Graduates of the Canisius College Deaf Education program fulfill that requirement in a variety of ways.
The primary practicum site for the Canisius College Program is the St. Mary's School for the Deaf. However, there are a variety of philosophies and communication methodologies available through the Western New York area for practicum placement. Coursework throughout the program includes opportunities to observe and interact with children who are deaf or hard of hearing at these locations.
