life after graduation

Economics majors are well prepared to enter the fields of banking, financial planning, market research, cost/benefit analysis, marketing and production. Opportunities also exist at various levels of government such as the Federal Reserve, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Commerce.

Canisius graduates who majored in economics hold such positions as:
  • Director of an Air Force logistics center
  • Attorney
  • Director of sales and marketing for an industrial firm
  • Energy analyst
  • Statistical analyst for the U.S. Bureau of the Census
  • Research associate for the Institute for Defense Analysis
The economics major is also an excellent preparation for graduate school. Canisius students have used the strong analytical foundation of their economics degree to pursue advanced study in business, health, public administration and law, and have attended graduate schools such as Columbia, Duke, Notre Dame, Boston College and the University of Michigan.
