Your deposit cannot be processed (allowing you to register for class) unless your Certificate of Finance (COF) is on file. Click here to download the COF.
Once both the deposit and COF are received, we will process the student visa eligibility/I-20 packet which will assist you in crossing the border. We will mail the I-20 sixty (60) days prior to the start of the semester until two weeks prior to the first day of class. At that point, we will hold the I-20 for you to pick up at the orientation (see below) or your first day on campus whichever is first.
Please read the instructions in your I-20 packet carefully. Once you receive the packet, you must pay your SEVIS fee online and print out a receipt. When you cross the border the first time on your way to campus, take your receipt into the border station and have the I-20 Form stamped. When you arrive on campus, you must have the form signed on page 3 by the International Student Office or the Associate Dean to verify your enrollment. Click here for more information on I-20 procedures.
Registration
Once you have submitted a deposit (and certificate of finance for international students), you can use your username and password to register for class. Please allow 24 business hours after making a deposit before attempting to register via our online system. For instructions on registration procedures, see our Web Registration Information (Adobe Acrobat .PDF).
Immunization Record Form
Graduate students registered for 6 or more credit hours attending class on campus are required by New York State to submit proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella and submit proof of either meningitis vaccination or a signed waiver declining vaccination prior to the first day of classes. The immunization form can be downloaded here (Adobe Acrobat .PDF). Vaccinations are available in the Student Health Center at the college for a fee.
Non-Canadian international students, studying on an F1 Visa are also required to submit a completed physical examination prior to the start of class. The physical examination and immunization form must be completed in English and signed by you and your health care provider. International students can also obtain a physical examination and immunizations in the Student Health Center upon arrival at the college, for a fee. More information about international student requirements can be found at www.canisius.edu/isp/accepted.asp
For more information see the Student Health Center Web site.
New Graduate Student Orientation
To better accomodate the needs of our graduate students, graduate orientation is now offered online. This replaces the on-campus orientation. Click here to access the online orientation.
An orientation guide has also been provided to help familiarize you with the campus as well as explain important procedures.
The Accepted Student Checklist (Adobe Acrobat .PDF) will help to ensure a smooth transition to your graduate studies at Canisius. Many of these items can be addressed prior to the orientation.
