Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program

Overview: “Purpose of this foundation is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers by awarding scholarships to college students who intend to pursue careers in these fields.”

Eligibility: Undergraduates
  • A.P.A. of at least a B and be in top 25 percent of class
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident.

    • Two Groups of Applicants:
    • Full time matriculated Sophomores; Juniors (2007-08) two years support
    • Full time matriculated Juniors; Seniors (2007-08) one year support
*Students must be planning a research career; student planning to study medicine are eligible only if they plan a research career rather than a career as a medical doctor in private practice.

Fellowships Granted: Canisius can nominate four students.  Three hundred Goldwater scholarships nationwide.  Candidacy considered by state.
