The Government Relations Office at Canisius College was established to build and strengthen relationships with elected officials at the federal, state and local levels, as well as with appointed government officials and community representatives.  The office advocates for the college’s agenda legislatively and in regulatory matters.  Its work includes developing government-based funding opportunities focused on the college’s strategic priorities.

The Government Relations Office also provides information to the Canisius community about governmental actions and proposals which may have a direct impact on college faculty, administrators and students.  In addition, the office acts as a conduit of college information and opinion to decision makers, and federal and state advocacy organizations to which the college belongs.  The office develops and manages the college’s community relations activities involving elected and appointed officials and community leaders.

The Government Relations Office works in cooperation with other offices of the college including corporate and foundation relations, academic grants, public relations and alumni relations, to coordinate and maximize its advocacy and information efforts.
