Special Education Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission to Canisius College's master's degree program in Special Education, candidates are required to submit the following items:
- A completed graduate admissions application.
- One official college/university transcript showing completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher (3.0 in major courses).
- Evidence of teacher certification, if applicable (not required for those seeking initial teacher certification along with special education certification).
- Two letters of recommendation.
Program Start Dates
New graduate students are admitted three times a year: Spring (January), Summer (May-June) and Fall (late August). There are no deadlines for applying. We operate on a rolling admissions basis. Students should complete their applications at least one month prior to the term they wish to begin.
Evaluating Applications
Applications for candidates with less than a 2.7 cumulative GPA will be reviewed by the program director for an admissions decision and may include additional requirements (e.g., personal interview, GRE/GMAT, etc.)
