The Physical Education Department offers graduate study leading to the Master of the Science in Education degree. The four distinct degree programs are designed to develop job-related competencies with a goal of producing physical education professionals, sports scientists and health educators, who are knowledgeable and skilled in the administration of physical activity programs.
INITIAL CERTIFICATION/MASTERS DEGREE - PHYSICAL EDUCATION, K-12 - ACCESS PROGRAM
This program is designed to provide initial teacher certification in physical education for U. S. candidates with bachelors degrees. The program is open to candidates of all academic majors from history to sport management. The program is ideal for students with degrees in kinesiology, exercise science, health and wellness, etc. who may already meet most of the prerequisite course requirements.
INITIAL CERTIFICATION/MASTERS DEGREE - PHYSICAL EDUCATION, ONTARIO, 7-12
This program is for Canadian candidates with bachelors degrees who are seeking initial teacher certification in physical education (in Ontario this will be certification at the intermediate/senior level). The program is ideal for students with degrees in kinesiology, exercise science, health and wellness, etc. who may already meet most of the prerequisite course requirements.
ON-CAMPUS MASTER OF SCIENCE IN EDUCATION IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION
This program is for certified teachers who are seeking a masters degree to satisfy professional certification requirements. Concentrations include teaching specialist, athletic administration, sport psychology/coaching/sport studies, adapted physical education, and health education.
