Canisius College is one of 28 Jesuit colleges in the United States. There are 24 members of the Society of Jesus at Canisius College. The Jesuit residence on campus is located in Loyola Hall.


Canisius is home to approximately 1500 resident students. An additional 400-450 students live in the neighborhood surrounding the college.

Campus Safety

Our Public Safety officers are sworn New York State Peace Officers and serve the Canisius College community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Campus Safety team has been nationally recognized four times receiving honors from the both the U.S Departments of Justice and Homeland Security in ’05, ’06, ’07 and 2010.


There are 63 undergraduate majors, 5 pre-professional programs, 65 minors and 35 graduate degree & certificate programs at Canisius.


The student-faculty ratio at Canisius is 11:1, which allows students to work closely with their instructors, often publishing or presenting scholarly articles based on joint research. There are 230 full-time faculty at Canisius, 94 percent of whom hold a PhD or other terminal degree.


Canisius College is a Division I athletics institution with 16 varsity sports and is affiliated with the MAAC Conference. Six of the College’s varsity programs boast a perfect score of 100 in the most recent Graduation Success Rate (GSR) report, according to the NCAA.


Each year Canisius hosts hundreds of events including sporting events, lecture series, and concerts. Many of the events are open to the public. Parents are enthusiastically encouraged to attend if interested. Events can be found on the Canisius website.
