For nearly 50 years, the All-College Honors Program has embodied what is best about Canisius College. It brings outstanding students to Western New York and engages them in exciting research, scholarship and artistic endeavors. Through specially designed course and co-curricular experieces such as scholarly travel, the Honors Program strengthens the entire Canisius community.

The All-College Honors Program embraces the Jesuit philosophy of cura personalis, or care for the individual, It provides students, who are selecting from the top ten percent of entering freshmen, a challenging educational experience in an environment that nurtures the whole person. An outstanding faculty and small, enriched classes are a hallmark of this program.

Outside the classroom, Honors students enjoy a wealth of diverse opportunities including cultural events, travel, service and book clubs. These activities strengthen the program's mission to build a community of scholars.

Honor's graduates include some of the nation's most distinguished business executives, community leaders, educators, attorneys and physicians.

The All-College Honors Program is a priority of A Legacy of Leadership: The Campaign for Canisius College, which seeks to enhance the intellectual life on campus by attracting high-quality, diverse students. The campaign also seeks to build the college's endowment - through which we can continue to promote leadership development - and to enhance the Annual Fund. Gifts to the Annual Fund allow unrestricted funds to support unique learning opportunities at Canisius.

In order to attract and engage the most talented undergraduate students in the country, Canisius needs to significantly raise the level of support for Honors. Your support will allow the college to compete with peer institutions with far greater financial resources to recruit gifted students. Our ability to educate those students will be augmented by the development of:
  • New interdisciplinary courses that include fine arts and science
  • An Honors lecture series
  • Local, regional and national scholarly travel
  • Independent study opportunities and research projects
  • A visiting professorship or symposium
  • An Honors Student Center
Your gift to the All-College Honors Program enriches the lives of current students and also represents your investment in our community and its future.
