Message from Patricia A. Hutton, Chair of the Human Resources Committee

On behalf of the Human Resources Committee (HRC), I would like to welcome you to the HRC Web Site.

The Human Resources Committee was established to develop systems, policies, and processes that enable effective and productive work in fulfillment of Canisius' total education mission. It is the responsibility of the committee to cultivate a working environment that reflects the Canisius College mission and models our values like honesty and integrity, care and respect for the individual, a commitment to quality and excellence, teamwork and personal accountability. The committee has responsibility for initiating broadly-based discussion on campus-wide human resources issues.
The committee has representation from all major constituencies of the College: four representatives of the administration, two representatives each from the Faculty Welfare Committee (FWC), the Secretarial/Technical Employees Committee (STEPS), and Library and Information Services (LIS), one representative each from Public Safety, the Committee on the Status of Women (CSW), and the Human Resources Department.

We are very proud of the accomplishments of the HRC.  In response to recommendations made by the HRC, the College has provided

  • Recognition and Celebration of 5, 10 and 15 Years of Employee Service
  • Additional Benefits for Part-time Employees
  • Additional Salary Raises for Secretarial and Technical Staff
In addition to currently reviewing several benefits programs offered by the College, the HRC is assessing the adequacy of grievance/problem resolution processes currently available to administrators, librarians, public safety personnel and secretarial/technical staff at the College.  To that end, we are posting those processes, as described in the respective handbooks, on this site.  We will soon be distributing a short survey to these employees and encourage all employees to respond so that the HRC may make recommendations on your behalf.
