Abstract:
Nowadays, having an advanced degree in Mathematics
or in other, Math-related areas can be quite rewarding,
with many interesting career-path possibilities. All
begin with a successful application & acceptance to
a nice graduate school.
In this information session for students, I will talk
about some of the things you may wish to know about in
planning and preparing for your application to graduate
schools. Some dates, procedures, documents to prepare,
GRE exam, etc. And, what to expect when you get there.
While I will mainly talk about the case of someone
applying for a math graduate school, some of the
comments will hold true even for many others who will
choose to take other directions. Once the presentation
is done, I can take your questions. So bring whatever
questions with you: If I cannot answer your question,
some other faculty member will help me out.
Later in the year, the math club and the math department
will probably host a Career night, at which time we may
be able to hear from some past graduates of ours, some
currently in graduate schools and some in other careers.
