Abstract: Most of the quantum systems in applications arise by ``quantizing'' some classical systems. On the other hand, trying to make sense of ``Quantization'' is a delicate matter, and often mathematical rigor tends to be overlooked. Among the frameworks that have been developed is the ``Deformation quantization'' and star products, which is purely algebraic. Its analytic counterpart is the ``strict deformation quantization'', which is more rigorous although somewhat restrictive. The talk will begin with some remarks on historical developments, moving on to specifics afterwards. I will try to avoid the technicalities of C*-algebras or Poisson geoemetry, but some language of Hilbert space operators will appear.
