life after graduation

Upon graduation, international relations majors are prepared for graduate programs or careers in a variety of areas. Graduates of the program have obtained positions with United States Immigration and Naturalization, law firms, international organizations and international banking and finance institutions. Other international relations alumni seek careers with nongovernmental organizations.  Some decide to spend a year or two perfecting their language skills by teaching English in a foreign country.  The Canisius College Career Center is a great source of information for students preparing to enter into a career after graduation.

Graduates have also pursued graduate degrees in the fields of history, political science, and international relations at Johns Hopkins, Yale, Princeton, Ohio University, Cornell, Colorado State and Notre Dame University, among others.  Many graduates also pursue a career in law and have been accepted into some of the most prestigious law schools in the country.

International Relations majors are encouraged to apply for Fulbright Fellowships and other grants that will enable them to spend a year abroad after graduation.  For a full list of the scholarships that are available to Canisius College International Relations seniors, consult the website for the Canisius College Graduate Scholarship Office.
