University of Oviedo
Founded in the 16th century, The University of Oviedo has more than 40,000 students, 500 of whom are foreigners.  Oviedo is the capital of the principality of Asturias.  Its pre-Romanesque architecture sits among spectacular mountains and rugged coasts.  Oviedo is a cultural mecca and a very walkable city which offers the best in modern living, in a fairly mild climate just five hours by bus to Madrid.

Study abroad students will take five courses, ranging from language to history and literature, all taught entirely in Spanish.  Special options are available for education or computer information systems majors.

Students are encouraged to live with host families although in special cases student apartments are available. Living with a specially chosen host family will enhance the experience and maximize the immersion into the Spanish culture.  An on-site director is also available to assist students with any needs throughout their stay.

Students who have completed three semesters of college-level study are eligible for the program. A cummulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale is required. Recommendations from professors and advisors are essential elements of the selection process.
