Since this password provides access to so many campus resources, it is important that it be very secure. In an effort to establish "strong" passwords, all new passwords must meet the criteria below.

Password Requirements:
  • At least 8-characters long. (Mac users need EXACTLY 8-characters.)
  • A mixture of alphabetic letters and numbers
  • At least one "special character"
    • Allowed special characters are:

    • Disallowed special characters are:
      @ $ & “ ( ) , < > ` = ; and the space character
  • Passwords are also case-sensitive so it is good (but not required) to include both upper and lower case letters.

Get on the Canisius Wireless Network
Wireless access to the Canisius network is available in most places on campus. This means that a Canisius User or Guest with a properly equipped laptop computer can access the Internet without connecting to an Ethernet jack.
Access your Canisius Network Storage (H: drive)
All users at Canisius are provided with an allotment of network storage space. One advantage of this is the ability to get to your files from more than one computer across the campus network.

Establish a Remote Session with Canisius ITS
    using TeamViewer
On occasion, when you call the ITS Help Desk, the technician may ask for your permission to use "remote control" software in an effort to solve your problem.

Using TeamViewer, the ITS Help Desk can remotely control any computer as if they were sitting right in front of it. When asked, all you have to do is download & run a small application, which doesn't even require installation or administrative rights.

    Download & Run:

    Download TeamViewer QuickSupport for Windows
Alternate link to the Windows file

    Download TeamViewer QuickSupport for Mac
Alternate link to the Mac file
