The ITS Help Desk has experienced, qualified staff and extensive facilities with which to diagnose and correct many computer problems.  Walk-in, call-in, and email-in service is available for Canisius College students, faculty, and staff.   Most problems can be handled directly by the Help Desk. Those requiring further assistance will be assigned to ITS staff for follow-up.

If you are teaching in an Instructional Technology Classroom and you experience technical problems during a class, please alert the Help Desk staff who will dispatch someone to help you immediately.


When computers are left with our staff for diagnostic evaluation, please review the Help Desk’s ‘Terms and Conditions of Service’.  We will attempt to examine the computer and communicate our findings to the owner within two (2) business days.  Client responsibilities include providing appropriate contact and computer information, and timely pickup of items left with the Help Desk.  Our staff reserves the right to refuse servicing computers not used for Canisius College purposes.

Below are service items the Help Desk provides for students and their computers.

  1. establish wireless network connections, assist network registration
  2. remove spy ware, ad ware, viruses
  3. install ms-office from student’s media
  4. provide and install anti-virus program
  5. convert word documents to new version
  6. consult and recommend on computer purchases and warrantee repairs
  7. reset network/griffmail/Angel passwords
  8. library printing setup
  9. assist with backup to student's external drive
