Changing your Password

This document provides information on how to synchronize your network
(Novell) password with your e-mail, CorporateTime, and Self-Service
Banner passwords. This process also requires a stronger and more secure
password for this unified password.

To change your password, go to the web address:
/passwordreset

Enter your current Novell username and password on the "Password Self-Service" web page and click "Login".

The first time you go to this page, you will be prompted to enter a set
of Challenge Questions. These will be used to verify your identity if,
in the future, you forget your password and need to reset it. Enter your
date of birth in MM/DD/YY format (be certain it is 8 digits with
slashes) in the first box. Enter your Banner ID (Canisius College ID)
number in the second box. In the third and fourth boxes, enter a unique
question and answer that only you would know. Remember, this is the
question that will be asked when you want to reset your password, so it
should be something that nobody else would be able to answer. When you
are finished entering the question and answer, click "Submit" to continue.

You will now move to a page where you can change your network password.
Click on the "Change Password" icon above the text message on this page.
Enter your old password in the box labeled "Old password", and the new
password that you would like to use in the box labeled "New password".
Retype the new password into the appropriate box to verify that you
entered it correctly, and click "Submit" to continue.

Please note that the new password must be at least eight characters long
and contain at least one number and one special character, such as a
punctuation mark. These password characteristics will result in a
password that is hard for someone to guess, even with the aid of a
computer. If your new password does not meet these criteria, you will be
prompted to select another one. Macintosh users should select a password
that is exactly eight characters. (Allowed punctuation marks are ! # % *
+ - / : + ? and _ Disallowed punctuation marks are @ $ & “ ( ) , < > ` =
; and the space character )

The next web page will confirm that your password has been reset. Please
note that this new password is for your network login as well as your
e-mail, CorporateTime calendar, Self-Service Banner, and network
registration. If you forget this password in the future, simply return
to the web page noted above and click on the "Forgot your password?"
link to answer your Challenge Questions and reset it.

Help for this procedure is available at the ITS Help Desk (X2299).
