About ResNet

ResNet is the suite of services available to students in the Canisius Residence Halls. The services include:


TV Service
The TV service in residence halls is provided through CampusTelevideo.com

In order to take advantage of the TV service on campus, you will need to bring with you a cable-ready television set and a coaxial cable. There is one coaxial cable television outlet per bedroom, however you may use a splitter if you would like to connect a second television.

DVRs that require a conection to the Internet will need to be registered as network devices. See the "Internet Data Service" section below for more information.

Internet Data Service

Beginning 8/5/2011, the Internet data service in residence halls will be provided through Apogee.

Apogee provides two levels of service. We recommend you start with the basic level of service, and upgrade to the Gold service if you find the basic service does not fit your needs. The differences in the service levels are as follows:

Basic Service:

  • Free
  • Up to eight (8) network connected devices.
  • 10 or 100 Mbps connection to School’s internal network
  • 3.0 Mbps download,
    384 Kbps upload connection to the Internet
  • Full 802.11 b/g/n wireless service in residential living spaces

Gold Service:

  • $79.00/semester
  • Up to ten (10) network connected devices.
  • 10 or 100 Mbps connection to School’s internal network
  • 10.0 Mbps download,
    512 Kbps upload connection to the Internet
  • Full 802.11 b/g/n wireless service in residential living spaces

 

Getting Connected to MyResNet:
Select the wireless network named 'My ResNet'.  Once your
computer has connected to the wireless network, open any internet browser
and go to MyResNet.com to Create or Renew your MyResNet account.

Step-by-step instructions for creating your ResNet account, getting your computer on the Internet, and connecting your other network devices such as DVRs, gaming systems, and Smartphones.

Printing
Networked laserjet printers are available in the residence hall labs (Palisano, Delavan, Village Townhouse Community Center, and Campion Intercultural Living Center), and run off the same print management system as the printers on the main campus. Maintaining Your Computer:
In order to keep your computer running smoothly, make sure that you keep your computer's operating system up-to-date on all security patches and use antivirus software. Please visit the ITS Student Services webpage for more details.

Telephone Service (Landline)
Beginning 8/5/2011, telephone service in residence halls will be provided through Apogee's MyResNet.com.

For those students who do not wish to rely on their personal cell-phone, Apogee offers optional landline telephone service for $14.95/month. This price includes all local and domestic long distance calls; International calls will require a calling card.  You can sign up for this optional service through MyResNet.com.

Campus Phones in Common Areas
The telephones in the lounge and common areas are capable of providing on-campus emergency (711) and toll free calling.

Cell-phone Coverage on Campus
