Canisius to Host Former President and CEO of Verizon Wireless
BUFFALO, NY ― The Canisius College Center for Professional Development (CPD) will host Denny Strigl ’74, HON ’11 former president and CEO of Verizon Wireless,on Monday,
February 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Montante Cultural Center. Strigl will give a breakfast presentation entitled “What it Takes for Managers to Consistently Deliver Strong Results in Their Organizations!” One of the most prominent architects of the wireless communications industry, Strigl will share the leadership techniques, strategies, and skills he used to lead Verizon to the top of the telecommunications industry. Strigl’s talk, which is free and open to the public, is part of the CPD’s “Taking the Lead” speaker’s series. Registration is required. A free continental breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m., prior to the start of the presentation.
As president and CEO of Verizon Wireless, Strigl delivered breakthroughs that led to exponential growth in a highly competitive industry, despite increasingly globalized competition and economic pressures. He took Verizon Wireless from $192 million in sales to $62 billion in sales in just 20 years. Strigl’s customer base went from 257,000 to 91.2 million during the same time period. At the time of his retirement, Strigl was president of Verizon Communications, the 14th largest Fortune 500 Company.
Strigl is currently an adjunct professor at Princeton University and Rutgers University. He is the co-author of Managers, Can You Hear Me Now? Hard Hitting Lessons on How to Get Real Results, and a frequent guest on the FOX News Channel, Fox Business, CNBC and MSNBC.
Strigl holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Canisius College and an MBA from Farleigh Dickinson University.
