Canisius Alumna Named New Grants and Endowment Accountant

BUFFALO, NY ― Marco F. Benedetti, the Canisius College vice president for business and finance, has appointed Alex M. Brown ’09, CPA, as the new grants and endowment fund accountant.

Brown will manage the college’s endowment and restricted fund accounting. She will work with the college’s Advancement Division on multiple external and internal reporting requirements. Additionally, Brown will be involved in reviewing contract proposals for private and governmental grants, and managing their accounting, reporting and compliance.

Brown comes to Canisius from Dopkins & Company LLP, where she served as supervisor of its Tax Advisory Group. She has extensive experience in tax compliance work for mid-size corporations and non-profits, preparing quarterly and annual financial statements and assisting auditors with year-end work.

Brown is a 2009 alumna of Canisius College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant and president-elect of the Buffalo chapter of the Accounting and Finance Women’s Alliance.
