Online Certification in Educational Leadership
The online educational leadership program at Canisius is designed to provide professional educators with the skills essential to a successful career as a school leader.This online educational leadership graduate program leads to a provisional School Building Leader (SBL) certificate or a School District Leader (SDL) certification in New York State, depending on the amount of graduate work completed.
All coursework for the online school principal and school district leader certifications can be completed online. Internship requirements may be completed in the candidate's local area with the assistance of a mentor and a Canisius supervisor. There is no residency requirement on our campus in Buffalo, New York.
After you complete the SBL and SDL graduate programs online, three additional courses must be completed to earn the Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Supervision Degree. Completion of the master's degree is not required in New York State for either the SBL or SDL certification.
