Master of Science in Physical Education Program
This master of science in physical education degree meets the New York State requirements for permanent or professional certification for current teachers. Students will take 3 core courses and 8 courses from one or more of the specialty fields listed below. This program provides students with opportunities for concentrations in the areas of teaching specialist, athletic administration, sport psychology/coaching/sport studies, adapted physical education, and health education.

This is a 33 credit hour master's degree program. The graduate degree meets the NYS requirements for Professional Certification for in-service teachers.
For Professional Certification, candidates must complete the master's degree within five years and teach for three years.
The Health Education field does NOT lead to a health certification. Physical Education teachers with NYS certfication may apply directly to NYS for Health certification after completing 30 credit hours (graduate or undergraduate) in health content courses and successfully completing the Health CST.
