The power for each device must be turned on separately. The LCD projector is powered on by pressing the ON button on the Extron control panel. The MASTER POWER switch is located on the middle of the equipment rack (click here for image), and it must be turned on in order to use the technology in the room. The resident computer, DVD/VCR combo unit, and document camera are all powered on using the appropriate buttons on these devices.
Use the wall switch to operate the motorized screen. The switch is located on the lab desk, near the sink.
The adjustment of volume is done using the knob located to the right of the monitors in the instructor’s lectern. NOTE: Computers have their own volume controls which may need to be adjusted separately.
Simply insert your media (tape, disc) into the machine and press button 4 (VCR/DVD) on the Extron Switcher. Use the buttons on the face of the unit for: STOP, PLAY, Fast-Forward (FF), and Rewind (REW). To remove your media, press the appropriate EJECT button. Additional functions are available using the remote control provided.
The computer must be started and shut down manually.
Once the computer has been powered up, press button 1 (PC 1) on the Extron Switcher to display the image on the LCD projector and local monitor. 
The cables needed for connecting a laptop computer are found on the instructor's lectern (under the hatch located top-right). Plug the VGA cable into your laptop's VGA port and tighten the thumbscrews to ensure a good connection. If you require access to the Internet or your campus-network resources, plug the Ethernet cable into your laptop's network jack (if equipped). To play computer-audio, you will need to plug the audio cable into your laptop's headphone jack. Be sure the laptop's volume is not too low or muted.
Press button 3 (LAPTOP 1) on the Extron Switcher to display the image on the LCD projector and local monitor.
For best results:
1. Power-up the equipment as described above.
2. Connect the required cables to your laptop as described above.
3. Plug in your laptop's AC adaptor.
4. Press button 3 (LAPTOP 1) on the Extron Switcher.
5. Turn on your laptop's power.
The Doc Cam’s power and lights must be turned on manually using the controls located on the camera itself. Click here for more information regarding the document camera found in this room.
Once the camera's power is on, press button 2 (DOC CAM) on the Extron Switcher to display the image on the LCD projector and local monitor.
Due to the size of this room, a wireless microphone is available for use. Training on this system can be setup by contacting the Media Center.
The LCD projector is powered off by pressing & holding the OFF button on the Extron control panel for 4 SECONDS. The resident computer, DVD/VCR combo unit, and document camera are all powered off using the appropriate buttons on these devices. Finally, turn off the MASTER POWER switch.
