Press the ON button on the Extron control panel (see Picture 5 above). This hard button device is used for control of the projector.
After pressing ON, wait until the button has stopped flashing before selecting the desired source button on the Extron. The projector will not receive the command to switch until after it has finished warming up.
The resident computer, DVD/VCR combo unit, and document camera are all powered on using the appropriate button located on these devices.
NOTE: The MASTER POWER switch must be turned on in order to use the technology in the room (see Picture 2 above).
Use the wall switch to operate the motorized screen. The switch is located by the sink on the lab table.
The adjustment of volume is done using the knob located to the right of the monitors in the instructor’s lectern. NOTE: Computers have their own volume controls which may need to be adjusted separately.
Press the POWER button on the resident computer to turn it on (see Picture 6 above). On the Extron, push the PC 1 button to display the image through both the monitor and LCD projector.
The Doc Cam’s power and lights must be turned on manually using the controls located on the camera itself. Click here for more information regarding the document camera found in this room.
Once the camera's power is on, press the DOC CAM button on the Extronto display the image through both the monitor and LCD projector.
Once the equipment is powered up, insert your disc or VHS tape into the DVD/VCR combo unit (see Picture 2 above). The combo unit is controlled using the buttons on the unit or the corresponding remote control provided. To display the DVD/VCR image on the LCD projector, press the VCR/DVD button on the Extron. To switch between DVD and VCR modes, press the appropriate button found on the combo unit itself. The cables needed for connecting a laptop computer are found on the instructor’s lectern. Plug the VGA cable into your laptop's VGA port and tighten the thumbscrews to ensure a good connection. If you require access to the Internet or your campus-network resources, plug the Ethernet cable into your laptop's network jack. If you need to play computer-audio, you will need to plug the audio cable into your laptop's headphone jack. Be sure the laptop's volume is not too low or muted.
Press the LAPTOP 1 button on the Extron to display the image on the LCD projector.
For best results:
1. Power-up the equipment as described above. 2. Connect the required cables to your laptop as described above. 3. Plug in your laptop's AC adaptor. 4. Press the LAPTOP 1 button on the Extron. 5. Turn on your laptop's power. Due to the size of this room, a wireless microphone is available for use. Training on this system can be setup by contacting the Media Center. Press & hold the OFF button on the Extron for 4 seconds to turn off the LCD projector. The resident computer, DVD/VCR, and document camera must be powered off separately. Be sure to remove any media from the equipment before shutting down. Before leaving, turn the MASTER POWER switch off.
