The equipment is controlled using an AMX Touch Panel Interface.

To provide power to the AMX panel and the rest of the equipment inside the lectern, turn the FRONT switch on (1); refer to the picture above to locate where the switch is found behind the lectern.

If the touch panel's screen is black, touch the screen to wake the display. When the Canisius Logo Screen appears, tap the screen to begin. At the next screen, select LOCAL HI RES COMPUTER PRESENTATION. This will allow you to display the computer, VCR and the ELMO Document Camera via LCD projector. The projector will then turn on and the screen will lower automatically. The projector will display a Sanyo warm-up screen and will begin to countdown. Once it reaches zero, you may proceed.

Use the wall switch to operate the motorized screen. The switch is located on the wall behind the lectern (2); refer to the picture above to locate where the switch is found behind the lectern.

Volume is controlled using the AMX panel. UP, DOWN and MUTE buttons are located in the upper-left and upper-right corners of the touch panel when either the VCR or COMPUTER source has been selected. The volume control on the left is source specific, while the volume control on the right is for the entire room.

If you are unsure of how to set the volume, press the PRESET button just beneath the DOWN button. NOTE: Computers have their own volume controls which may need to be adjusted separately.

Simply insert your tape into the PLAYER VCR and press the VCR button on the AMX to display the appropriate touch-screen controls. Touch-buttons are provided which allow you to control the device from the AMX. The only time you ever touch the VCR itself is to insert or eject your tape.

The computer must be started and shut down manually.

Once the computer has been powered up, press the COMPUTER button on the AMX to display the image through both the monitor and LCD projector simultaneously. NOTE: This room does NOT have laptop connectivity.

The Doc Cam’s power and lights must be turned on manually using the controls located on the camera itself. Click here for more information regarding the document camera found in this room.

Once the camera's power is on, press the ELMO button on the AMX to display the image through the LCD projector.

The Distance Learning Classroom consists of an instructor's camera (with tracking features), student camera, 35" monitors, audio control, VCRs (record & play), computer, document camera (ELMO) and FAX machine. Call Dan Drew (ext. 2569) at the Media Center for more information. To arrange training, professors should call the Media Center at ext. 2590.

Press the PROJECTOR button, which is located in the lower right-hand corner of the AMX panel. At the next screen, press the END SESSION button. Finally, turn the FRONT switch off. Be sure to remove any media from the equipment before shutting it down.
