Press the ON button on the wall-mounted Extron control panel (see Picture 3 above). This hard button device is used for control of the projector, as well as volume.
After pressing ON, wait until the button has stopped flashing before selecting the desired source button on the Extron. The projector will not receive the command to switch until after it has finished warming up.
The resident computer, DVD/VCR combo unit, and document camera are all powered on using the appropriate button located on these devices.

Press the PIC-MUTE button on the Extron once to place the projector in standby mode. Simply press the button again to take the projector out of standby.

The adjustment of volume is then done using the knob located on the wall-mounted Extron control panel (located behind the instructor’s lectern). NOTE: Computers have their own volume controls which may need to be adjusted separately.

Press the POWER button on the resident computer to turn it on (see Picture 4 above). On the Extron, push the PC button to display the image through both the monitor and LCD projector simultaneously.

The Doc Cam’s power and lights must be turned on manually using the controls located on the camera itself. Click here for more information regarding the document camera found in this classroom.
Once the camera's power is on, press the DOC CAM button on the Extron to display the image through both the monitor and LCD projector simultaneously.

Once the equipment is powered up, insert your disc or VHS tape into the DVD/VCR combo unit (see Picture 5 above). The combo unit is controlled using the buttons on the unit or the corresponding remote control provided. To display the DVD/VCR image on the LCD projector, press the VCR/DVD button on the Extron. To switch between DVD and VCR modes, use the DVD and VIDEO DVD buttons found on the combo unit itself.

The cables needed for connecting a laptop computer are found on the instructor’s cart. Plug the VGA cable into your laptop's VGA port and tighten the thumbscrews to ensure a good connection. If you require access to the Internet or your campus-network resources, plug the Ethernet cable into your laptop's network jack. To play computer-audio, you will need to plug the audio cable into your laptop's headphone jack. Be sure the laptop's volume is not too low or muted.
For best results:
1. Power-up the equipment as described above.
2. Connect the required cables to your laptop as described above.
3. Plug in your laptop's AC power adaptor.
4. Press the LAPTOP button on the Extron panel.
5. Turn on your laptop's power.

Press the OFF button on the Extron to turn off the LCD projector. The resident computer, DVD/VCR, and document camera must be powered off separately. Be sure to remove any media from the equipment before shutting it down.
