Canisius Exceeds United Way Goal!!!!
Three Cheers for Canisius! Thanks to the generosity of faculty, administration and staff, we raised $42,485 for the 2001 United Way Campaign - - exceeding the college's goal by more than $12,000! Our success was recognized during the United Way Awards Breakfast in December, where the college was named "Outstanding Campaign Team in the Buffalo/East Region." Campaign Coordinators
Rosemary Sortino, secretary to the vice president of student affairs,
Kathie Devine, secretary to the dean of students, and
Dr. Ellen Conley, vice president of student affairs, accepted the award on behalf of the campus community.
Overall the United Way Campaign raised more than $19.8 million for charities in Western New York.
O'Connell to Oversee Corporate and Foundation Relations
Carol Wdowka O'Connell '93, '95 MPA, has assumed a new role at Canisius. Recently named director of corporate and foundation relations, she is responsible for implementing and managing a local, regional and national program to obtain corporate and foundation support for departmental, school and college-wide initiatives.
Carol joined the college relations team in 1996, as the director of alumni relations. In that position, she made great strides in helping Canisius reach out to its more than 34,000 living alumni, through the development of 12 regional alumni chapters, the alumni-career-mentoring program, the alumni merchandise program and the interactive alumni Web site.
Carol replaces Marian Meyers, director of grant development, who is retiring from the position on February 1.
Kudos to the Maintenance Team

While most of us were home for winter break, the Maintenance Department was pulling double shifts to clear the campus of the huge December snowfall. Their non-stop work allowed the campus to open as scheduled on January 2. Great work guys!
