New Year’s Resolution:  Take Advantage of Blackboard!
Never used Blackboard before?  Or, having mastered the basics of Blackboard, are you ready for more course management techniques? Then take advantage of these upcoming workshops:

  • Blackboard II: once you’re comfortable with the basics you’ll want to learn about the efficient way of collecting assignments and posting grades.  This workshop will show you how.  Friday, February 2, 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. in WTC-305*
*Please register for Blackboard I and Blackboard II workshops here or by calling Ext. 3720.

If you’re on the fence about using Blackboard, or if it’s your New Year’s Resolution to give it a try, stop by the CTE/FacTS Center in CT-003 and CT-004 on January 16, 17, 18 or 22 from 5:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. for a jump-start!

Spring Blackboard Housekeeping:  Reminders for Blackboard Users
All courses that are offered spring semester are currently set up in Blackboard and instructors can view them when they login.  Note that each spring course has the (unavailable) tag next to it.  This means that if you intend to use Blackboard for your course this semester, you must make it available to your students when you are ready.  Similarly, if you haven’t already done so, now is a good time to make your fall 2007 courses unavailable.  Follow these simple steps:
  • Make Spring 2007 Blackboard course sites Available to students:  To do this, click in the appropriate course, then access the Control Panel.  In the bottom left corner, click on Settings, then choose Course Availability.  Change the setting from No to Yes and click OK.  That’s it!
  • Make Fall 2006 Blackboard course sites Unavailable to students:  To do this, click in the appropriate course, then access the Control Panel.  In the bottom left corner, click on Settings, then choose Course Availability.  Change the setting from Yes to No and click OK.  That’s it!
You will see all courses that you currently teach, as well as those in the past.  This can grow to a very long list.  To make your list more manageable, you can “hide” the courses you are not using by following the instructions here: Reduce Course Listings in Blackboard.
