Canisius Ranked Among Top Producers of Fulbright Students
Canisius College tied for fifth in the nation, among master’s institutions, for its number of J. William Fulbright Scholarship recipients for 2007-2008. The Fulbright Program recently announced the rankings, which were published in the October 26 edition of The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Three Canisius College students won Fulbright Awards for 2007-2008.  They include Roseanne C. Schuster '07, Elise A. Garvey ’07 and Melanie D. Horton '06.  Nancy J. Rosenbloom, PhD, professor of history, serves as chair of the Canisius College Fulbright committee.

"This achievement reflects the initiative and hard work of these three students, who took advantage of the high quality educational opportunities that Canisius College has to offer, including study abroad experiences," says Rosenbloom, "In addition, I applaud the efforts of many faculty members, who encouraged the students to strive for excellence and nutured them through the application process."

Legacy of Leadership Update
It has been nearly two months since Canisius College kicked off the public phase of its capital campaign, A Legacy of Leadership: The Campaign for Canisius College.

As of November 9, $53 million has already been committed towards the campaign, including large gifts of $5.1 million from the family of Carl J. ’64, HON ’04 and Carol Ann Montante and a $5 million gift from an anonymous donor.

"We are very encouraged by the response to the campaign," says Paula A. Valente, associate vice president for development. "Our goal to raise $90 million by May of 2010 is ambitious, but we are confident that with the continued support of our campus community, alumni and friends, we will achieve it."

Many people have been asking questions about the campaign and its priorities. A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page is now available on the Canisius College Web site that should answer most of these questions. Click here to read the campaign FAQs.
