Canisius Celebrates Employee Service Milestones
Rev. Vincent M. Cooke, S.J., college president, congratulates Kevin Kwitzer, building services supervisor on 10 years of service.More than 125 employees were honored in the Montante Cultural Center on Friday during the sixth annual Service Recognition Ceremony.

Herbert J. Nelson, PhD, vice president for academic affairs,
Patricia A. Hutton, PhD, professor of economics/finance and chair of the Human Resource Committee; and more than 200 family members, friends and members of the Canisius community were on hand to recognize faculty, staff and administrators who have reached their five, 10 and 15 year service anniversaries at the college. All totaled, these employees have more than 895 combined years of service to the college.
The event began with an invocation by
Joseph Van Volkenburg, assistant to the director, campus ministry, and a welcome by Dr. Hutton.

Members of Cantio Sacra presented musical selections throughout the ceremony. After Dr. Nelson presented the five-year honorees, Cantio Sacra, directed by Kathleen Keenan-Takagi, performed a musical interlude including a piece by Mozart. Rev. Thomas A. Colgan, S.J., associate campus minister, gave the benediction. After the ceremony, honorees and their guests celebrated at a reception.
This is the sixth year that the college has held a Service Recognition Ceremony to commemorate significant milestones in employee service. In the spring, employees who have reached 20 or more years of service, as well as retirees, are recognized at the annual Celebration of Service.
