Cochrane Publishes Third Novel

The Girl Who Threw Butterflies (Random House, 2009) is the latest book by Mick Cochrane, PhD, professor of English and Lowery Writer-in-Residence. Cochrane’s first book for young readers, The Girl Who Threw Butterflies, is the story of Molly Williams. Molly’s father just died in a car accident and her mother has become quiet and withdrawn. To make herself known at school for something other than her father’s death, Molly joins the baseball team – the boy’s baseball team.

Cochrane’s first novel, Flesh Wounds, was published by Nan Talese/Doubleday (1997) and named a finalist in Barnes and Noble’s Discover Great New Writers Competition. His second novel, Sport, was published by Thomas Dunne Books/St. Martin’s (2001) and selected for the annual New York Public Library’s Books for the Teen Age List.

The Girl Who Threw Butterflies is available for sale at Talking Leaves, Buffalo’s oldest independent bookstore. It is also available on-line from amazon.com and from Barnes and Noble at bn.com. For more information, contact Cochrane at Ext. 2662.
