College Relations Welcomes Two New Staff Members
   
Kate Fitzpatrick John Prizner
College relations welcomed two new members to its team this spring. Kate Fitzpatrick is the new assistant director of alumni relations. Fitzpatrick comes to the college from the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, where she was a development coordinator.  Fitzpatrick assists with the implementation and management of the college’s local, regional and national alumni relations program.


John Prizner is the newest member of the college relations’ development staff.  A 1997 alumnus of Canisius, Prizner’s most recent position was executive director of the Youth Lifeline Foundation in Rochester.  He worked previously as vice president of marketing for Global Signs and Graphics in Ohio and as marketing partnerships coordinator with the Buffalo Bills.  Prinzer is responsible for calling on Canisius alumni to support the college through major gift donations.

The 2006 Dr. I Joan Lorch Awards were presented at the annual Women’s Studies Luncheon on Friday, March 10 in the Grupp Fireside Lounge. Sister Susan Bowles, VOICE-Buffalo and Bernadette Franklin, President, Seneca Rezolutions Construction Management Co. were the guest speakers for the event.

Canisius Administrators Inducted into DiGamma

On March 10, Maureen Millane-Rusk MBA ’92, associate dean for external business programs, and John L. Maddock, associate director of athletics for external affairs, were among the seven new members inducted into the Canisius College DiGamma Honor Society.  The prestigious society is composed of Canisius alumni, faculty, administrators and students who have distinguished themselves in their work for the advancement of the college.


2006 Martin Luther King Award Winners
Congratulations to the following Canisius College 2006 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award winners:


Jerome Neuner, PhD, associate vice president for academic affairs, is the recipient of the administrator award; Michael Gent, PhD, associate professor of management and marketing, is the recipient of the faculty award; and Danielle Esposito '06 is the recipient of the student award. 

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards, presented annually in the categories of staff, administrator, faculty and student, recognize individuals at the college who have proven qualities that foster equality, fairness, human/civil rights and justice.  Honorees will be recognized during the Canisius College Spring Honors Convocation on April 28.

Gansworth Featured in Poetry Journal
An interview with Eric Gansworth, professor of English, was featured in the fall 2005 issue of Cold Mountain Review. The article included selections from Gansworth’s book The Rain, The Rez, and Other ThingsCold Mountain Review, published by the English Department at Appalachian State University, publishes poetry and interviews with new and notable poets from across the nation and overseas.
