The college is closed on Friday, March 29 for the Easter holiday, except for essential operating personnel.

Spring break for students runs from Thursday, March 28 through Friday, April 5.

Preparing for the Shoes for the Shelter 5k Run/Walk

If you have been following the workout program thus far, you should be working out for about 30 to 35 minutes.  You should now slowly and continuously increase the amount of time in which you are walking or jogging.  Advanced runners may find they are already ahead of this schedule, but most of us do not have the time to walk or jog for an hour a day.  If this is a problem, there are two ways you can compensate for it and still continue to increase your aerobic capacity.

1.  If you only have 20 minutes in the morning, see if you can also find an additional 20 minutes (or 1/2 hour) in the evening. This will not only increase your output but you will also stimulate caloric burn for a second time during the day (which means if one of your new years resolutions is to lose weight, this will help).

2.  If you only have a limited time to workout, increase the intensity of your exercise. If you are currently walking one mile for 20 minutes because that is all the time you have, walk further.  If you reach 1-1/4 miles in the same time allotment, then you have increased your intensity of exercise.

The run/walk will take place on Sunday, April 14, which leaves a little more than seven weeks till the event!
