Canisius College Memories: “I've been in love with Canisius since I was a little girl riding down Main Street and admiring that ‘big College with the gold roof!’ I will continue to hold Canisius in a very special spot in my heart, especially the truly wonderful people I've met and those with whom I've worked!” -- Kathleen M. Devine, secretary, dean of students
“I realize how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to work at Canisius. I was fortunate to take advantage of the free courses and receive my bachelor's degree, but I've also met wonderful people who have become my friends. Canisius will always be a special part of my life and it won't end with retirement.” -- Rosemary Sortino, secretary for the vice president of student affairs.
"My favorite Canisius memories will always be the wonderful people I've worked with. Many of the people who started their careers in the Canisius College Admissions Office have gone on to be very successful. Many keep in touch with me and it's delightful to follow their professional development." -- Penelope H. Lips, director, admissions. |

College Breaks Ground on Residence Hall, New Parking Plan Working Well
Work is underway to prepare for the college’s new residence hall. The first week of April, equipment arrived on site to start preparing for construction. Faculty and students have made adjustments to the changes in parking space availability and the transition is going smoothly. Click www.canisius.edu/parking for a reminder of campus parking options.

A backhoe begins digging on the site of the future residence hall.

New Main Street parking offers a convenient alternative for Canisius students and staff after 9:00 a.m. To ensure that Buffalo Police do not give you a ticket, do not park any closer than 15 feet from a fire hydrant or closer than 20 feet from a crosswalk.
New Shuttle Adds Convenience
The Department of Public Safety has a new van in the shuttle fleet, with a comfortable middle aisle and extra headroom. Since construction started on the new residence hall, Barbara Herrick, secretary in the center for teaching excellence, parks her car in the Health Sciences lot at Delavan and Spillman. Herrick says always finds plenty of spaces, even close to 8:30 a.m. Faculty and staff can catch the shuttle in front the Health Science building if the driver sees that you need a ride and has seats available.

Barbara Herrick, secretary in the center for teaching excellence, has been riding the new shuttle from the Health Science parking lot to her office in the Churchill Tower.
Fourth Annual Canisius College Community Day Is April 24
Canisius faculty and staff are encouraged to volunteer for Community Day on Saturday, April 24 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Team up with the Office of Campus Ministry to help non-profit community organizations get ready for spring! For more information, contact the Office of Campus Ministry at Ext. 2420 or E-mail Joe Van Volkenburg at vanvolkj@canisius.edu.

Warren won the lunch in a silent auction at the college’s Blue and Gold Golf Tournament last year. Deborah DiMatteo ’88 MBA, vice president of professional and business banking at M&T Bank and Chuck Pelitera ’80, Canisius College strength and conditioning coordinator were her guests. Mesi trains at the Koessler Athletic Center with Pelitera.
Move It, Canisius! – Get In Shape With New Walking Club
Are you looking for a way to get in shape for summer? Maybe you need some group motivation! Come work out with co-workers in the new "Move It, Canisius" Walking Club. The group will meet at Demerly Hall on Mondays and Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. and walk in Delaware Park and surrounding areas. It’s a great way to improve or maintain your fitness and get to know some of your colleagues. If you’re interested, please contact Dr. Pat Mosher, associate professor of sports medicine, at Ext. 6646 or via E-mail at mosherp@canisius.edu.
Maybe you’ll be inspired to join the walking club after getting the results of your on-campus fitness test. Now that spring has begun, more faculty members are calling to get a fitness assessment which includes: risk factor assessment, submaximal bike test, body composition and flexibility. Dr. Chris Moll, associate professor of counseling and human services said she had fun taking the test. She said, “It wasn’t as strenuous as I expected, but it’s extremely comprehensive. The results are very scientific and honest, and it’s a good motivator.”
To take the fitness test you need to get approval from your physician, pay a $15.00 fee and make an appointment for the test, which takes approximately 45 minutes. For further information, contact Dr. Pat Mosher. Testing is available through April 30.
College Closed for Good Friday
