Open Enrollment for Health Insurance
Human Resources will conduct the annual open enrollment for health insurance on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. in Regis North. Eligible faculty and staff may enroll or change plans during this annual event. Information for all plans will arrive via campus mail.
COBRA Continuation Coverage
Eligible dependents covered by your Canisius College family health insurance plan may continue coverage upon your death, divorce, or entitlement to Medicare. To qualify for continued coverage, dependents must:
- Be covered in a college health insurance plan at the time of the event
- Notify the human resources office within 60 days of the event
- Submit a completed election form to the human resources office
- Pay the full cost of coverage
- The same notification and election procedure applies to dependent children who lost eligibility for coverage under a family plan, primarily by "aging out" (passing the birthday at which coverage ends) or no longer being enrolled as a full-time college student.
- Please note it is your responsibility to initiate COBRA continuation coverage. Information and COBRA election forms for college-sponsored health insurance plans are available in the human resources office, Bagen Hall - Room 108.
Slips, Trips, and Falls
Pick up your feet! Watch where you are going! Tie that shoe lace! Use the railing! It sounds basic, but safety is an attitude and you can avoid slips, trips and falls. Slips, trips and falls are the leading cause of non fatal injuries in the United States. Eighty percent occur on wet surfaces.
What can I do to reduce the chance of injury to myself and others?
- Slow down and take smaller steps when surfaces are wet or icy
- Wipe up spills immediately
- Don’t leave (lower) file drawers open or unattended
- Keep stairways free of all debris
- Straighten curled floor mats when you see them
- Report hazardous conditions
Let’s all take a proactive approach to safety.
