D’Amico’s Documents His Ancestry in La Famiglia
| English Professor Jack P. D’Amico, PhD, traces his family’s Italian heritage in his new book La Famiglia. Drawing on oral history, Italian government reports and literary sources, D’Amico examines the life his grandparents and their ancestors lived in Santa Croce di Magliano in southern Italy. The book follows the families to Buffalo and the neighborhood of East Lovejoy, where they settled and raised their families. La Famiglia’s universal appeal lies in how D’Amico addresses the cultural and philosophical questions of identity, which emerge during the transition from one culture to another. The book is available here. |
