Canisius WBC Hosts Second Annual Recognition Event


The Women’s Business Center (WBC) at Canisius College hosted its second annual Summer Social and Recognition Event on June 16 in the Palisano Pavilion. More than 65 people turned out for the event, which is held to recognize all the individuals who have given their time and talents to the WBC over the last year.  (left to right) Loretta Kaminsky, assistant director, WBC; Maureen Latin, owner of Decorate by Plan and recipient of the Protégé award and Melinda Rath Sanderson, executive director, WBC. 

Millane Rusk Honored by Amherst Chamber of Commerce
Maureen Millane Rusk, associate dean for external business programs, is the recipient of the Amherst Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Advocate Award. Millane Rusk accepted the award at the chamber’s annual luncheon on May 5.  

Canisius Wins Two PRSA Awards

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Buffalo/Niagara Chapter recognized Canisius College with two awards at its seventeenth annual Excalibur Awards on June 22. In the category of presentations/ workshops on public relations, Eileen C. Herbert '04, associate director of public relations and Debra S. Park MS '06, director of public relations and won a silver Excalibur for “Canisius Plants the Seed for 4-H.”  In the interactive communications category, the Canisius College Web site redesign picked up a bronze Excalibur award. Congratulations to Chuck Pustelnik '91, MS '04; director of Web Services, Suzanne Crean, assistant Web editor and Debra S. Park.

Public Safety Participates in Special Olympics Torch Run

Gary Everett, director of public safety (center), participated in the Special Olympics Torch Run on Thursday, June 22 along with representatives from other law enforcement agencies. Also pictured are Mike Benson '84 (right) and Richard Donovan, both of the Erie County Sheriff’s Department. James Murphy III, officer for public safety; also participated (on police bike) and Rev. Paul J. Dugan, S.J., moderator of athletics blessed the runners during a water stop.
 
Gansworth Named to Buffalo Spree List
Eric L. Gansworth, professor of English, was selected as runner-up in the category of best local fiction writer in Buffalo Spree magazine’s 2006 “Best of WNY” list.
