Canisius Holds Faculty Forum to Promote Understanding
Canisius College is continuing to respond to the recent events facing the nation.  On Thursday, September 20 at 2:30 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center, the offices of Academic and Student Affairs will host a faculty forum for the college community.  

Members of the Canisius faculty who have relevant experience and expertise will hold a panel discussion to promote tolerance and respond to questions or comments from the Canisius Community. 

Faculty members participating in the panel discussion include Dr. Marcheta Birch, associate professor of political science; Dr. Jack D'Amico, professor of English; Christopher Lee, assistant professor of religious studies; Dr. Khalid Bibi, associate professor of exercise science; Dr. Paula McNutt, professor of religious studies; and Mark Horowitz, adjunct assistant professor of religious studies.

ArtsCanisius presents the following performances in the beginning of October:

  • Monday, October 1 - Meet-the -Faculty Recital at 12:30 p.m. in the college's Montante Cultural Center.  The performance features Ansgarius Aylward, ajunct professor of fine arts and assistant concertmaster of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, performing on violin; Jane Cary, director of music, performing on harpsichord, and Bryan Eckenrode, instructor of music, performing on cello. Admission is free and open to the public.

  • Wednesday, October 3 - Valerian Ruminski, bass vocalist, will perform compositions by Persis Vehar, Cansius College Composer-in-Residence, at 8:00 p.m. in the Montanate Cultural Center.  Admission is $12.00 for the general public and students are admitted free.  This event is sponsored by the Canisius College Polish Chair.  For more information or tickets contact Rev. Benjamin Fiore, S.J., polish chair, at ext. 2822.

    Ruminski made his vocal debut with the New York City Opera in 1999.  He is the recipient of the Lincoln Center Martin Segal Award for outstanding debut artisit and second prize winner of the Altamura/Caruso Inernational Voice Competition in Imola, Italy.
