Recommended Configuration for Students
If you are purchasing a new Apple Macintosh, you will want a model at least as capable as the following:
- any Intel processor 2GHz or faster
- 2 GB memory
- 120 GB hard disk
- Mac OS 10.4 or higher
- built-in wireless networking
- Microsoft Office (recommended) or iWork, OpenOffice
Wireless Network Access
Students who choose a laptop computer may need to add a wireless network card to the above configuration. With a laptop computer, an appropriate operating system (as recommended above), and wireless network capability (802.11g wireless protocol) users will have access to the Internet, library materials, and other services with no wires attached in many campus locations, including the Library, Old Main, the Student Center and many residence halls.
