Canisius Presents Concert By Il Giardino D'Amore Baroque Orchestra
BUFFALO, NY − Canisius College presents a performance by Il Giardino d’Amore on Friday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center.
Founded in 2011 by violinist Stefan Plewniak, the European Baroque orchestra is an interesting mix of young musicians from Poland, Italy, Spain and France. The orchestra consists of Marzena Matyaszek, violin; Enrique Gomez, violin; Cabrera Fernandez, violin; Katarzyna Kalinowska, violin, viola; Monika Boroni, violin; Wojciech Witek, viola; Katarzyna Cichoń, cello; Maria Guzowska, lute, guitar; and Marco Vitale, harpsichord. Il Giardino d’Amore will be joined by award-winning vocalists David Biwo, bass, baritone; and Natalie Kawalek, soprano. The performance, which comes on the heels of their participation in the Early Music Celebration in New York City, will feature music from Italian, French, English and Polish baroque masters.
Il Giardino d’Amore has performed at prestigious festivals such as Bach Festival Vienna, Utrecht Oude Musik Festival and Tartini Festival. The orchestra has played in concerts across the country including in Poland, Slovenia, Austria and the Netherlands. Il Giardino d’Amore recorded two CDs this summer, Musica del sol and Songs of love/Canzone amorose/Chansons d’amour that will be released this winter.
