Canisius to Host Youth Entrepreneurship (YES) Contest
BUFFALO, NY ― Canisius College will host a Youth Entrepreneurship Showcase (YES) Contest on Wednesday, March 13, from 10:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge on the second floor of the Richard E. Winter ’42 Student Center.
Twenty-six seventh and eighth grade students (a total of six teams) from Houghton Academy will compete in an elevator pitch contest. Students have worked with their teacher and Canisius Enactus (formerly SIFE) students since November 2012 to develop business plans, t-shirt prototypes for the Corporate Challenge Race and elevator pitches. Judges are business professionals from the local community.
YES is a collaboration between Canisius Enactus, the Buffalo Public School District and AHOWI Focus Group (a non-profit agency which serves Buffalo youth).
Enactus is an international non-profit organization that brings together student, academic and business leaders who are committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need. Guided by academic advisors and business experts, the student leaders of Enactus create and implement community empowerment projects around the globe.
One of 28 Jesuit universities in the nation, Canisius College is the premier private university in Western New York.
