American Marketing Association Honors Canisius Chapter
AMA bestows Chapter Performance Award on campus chapter
BUFFALO, NY The Canisius College Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) was recognized by the national organization when it received the Chapter Performance Award at the National AMA Collegiate Conference in New Orleans in April. Eleven Canisius students attended the conference.
The award is presented to AMA chapters that demonstrate exemplary performance during an academic year. Specifically, the Canisius AMA Chapter increased its number of active members, hosted monthly presentations that featured marketing experts, and organized and participated in tours of marketing departments at several local businesses. The AMA named the Canisius chapter one of the most proficient collegiate chapters in the nation.
The chapter is expected to do even more next year, says Gregory R. Wood, PhD, associate professor of management/marketing at Canisius and chair of the department. He notes that officers held a leadership retreat at the end of this school year and developed a strategic plan that includes a greater number professional development activities, community service projects and participation in national competitions.
There are currently 40 members of the Canisius College Chapter of the American Marketing Association. The AMA is the largest association in North America. It is a professional association for individuals and organizations involved in the practice, teaching and study of marketing.
