Canisius Names Executive In Residence
Jack T. Ampuja to teach in Management/Marketing Department
Buffalo, NY – Jack T. Ampuja has been named executive in residence in the Canisius College Management/Marketing Department for the 2002 academic year.
Regarded as an expert in global logistics and supply chain management, Ampuja was previously senior vice president for logistics and operations for Fisher Scientific International in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from 1999 – 2001 and was vice president of purchasing and logistics for Rich Products Corporation from 1990 – 1999. He serves on the editorial advisory board of Supply Chain Management Review and is a frequent speaker and writer on supply chain trends.
At Canisius, he will enrich the college’s Management/Marketing Department offerings by developing a program in global logistics and supply chain management. He is currently team- teaching a new course entitled, “Global Logistics and Transportation” with Dr. Guy Gessner, associate professor of management/marketing at the college.
The course provides students with an introduction to the operation and management of the primary modes of international transportation. The class also features guest speakers from U.S. Customs, the World Trade Center and the Buffalo Niagara and Canadian American Border Trade Alliance. A trip to the Peace Bridge to get first-hand exposure to the movement of freight across an international border in also included in the program.
Ampuja is also teaching Global Logistics in the college’s MBA Program.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, completed post graduate study in Logistics at Northeastern University and has an MBA in management from the University of Connecticut.
Ampuja’s visit is funded by a U.S. Department of Education Title VI-B Business and International Education Grant.
