Krawiec Named All-College Honors Professor of the Year

BUFFALO, NY ― Rebecca Krawiec, PhD,  associate professor of religious studies and theology, has been named 2013 Professor of the Year by the All-College Honors Program

The honor is awarded to a professor (past or present) who has made exceptional contributions to the All-College Honors Program in teaching, scholarship and/or service.

“Dr. Krawiec is being recognized for her outstanding teaching, strong commitment to the Honors Program and her excellent publication record,” says Bruce J. Dierenfield, PhD, professor of history and director of the All-College Honors Program. “Her dedication to Honors students in development of their critical thinking and writing skills is particularly noteworthy.”

Krawiec specializes in Christianity in late antiquity, women and gender in late antiquity and early monasticism. Her courses include Introduction to the New Testament, Early Christian History, Portraits of Jesus, and Women, Gender and Religion.

Krawiec is the author of Shenoute and the Women of the White Monastery: Egyptian Monasticism in Late Antiquity (Oxford University Press, 2002).She holds a PhD and a master’s degree in religious studies from Yale University and an AB in ancient studies from Brown University.
