Canisius Ambassadors for Conservation

Michael Noonan, PhD, professor of biology and psychology

This program develops a group of Canisius students into advocates for conservation through in-depth field studies of wildlife.  Students will travel with Noonan to distant sites for first-hand experiences related to the management and stewardship of a particular species of wildlife.  During subsequent months, students will make presentations at local zoological institutions and schools.  In both settings, they will utilize multimedia presentations focused on educational and conservation themes.  The CAC students also create a DVD that conveys the same content and this will be made available to high school biology teachers and to the education departments of North American zoological parks.  In addition, CAC students will develop Web page versions of the program that will spread the message of wildlife conservation to a world-wide audience.
