about Buffalo

About Buffalo
Buffalo, the second largest city in New York State, is much more than chicken wings and snow; it is a great, four season college town.  The City of Good Neighbors boasts world class architecture, beautiful parks built by Central Park designer Frederick Law Olmsted, a thriving theater district, art galleries and museums all within minutes of our campus.

Buffalo is also home to leaders in the health care, technology, non-profit and corporate professions, which provide hands-on training for Canisius students and many opportunities for Canisius graduates. Western New Yorkers make the most of the region’s four seasons by taking in the vibrant fall foliage, skiing or sledding during white winters, watching a ballgame on a cool spring evening, or enjoying one of the many summertime festivals. And if that isn't enough, you're just a bridge away from Canada.  In or outdoors, there's plenty to do in Buffalo, and many reasons to make Canisius College and Western New York your home away from home.

Buffalo Restaurants
Dining out in Buffalo is a real treat.  Restaurants in the city and nearby suburbs represent the diverse cultural heritage of this region and boast some of the best food in the country.  You won’t have to travel far to sample dishes with a Greek, Italian, Asian or Middle Eastern flair. Buffalo is best known, however, as the home of the chicken wing (a delicacy first discovered just a short drive down Main Street at The Anchor Bar) and for beef on weck (roast beef on a salt encrusted kimmelweck roll).

The Buffalo Convention and Visitors Bureau offers a comprehensive guide to restaurants.  This guide will help you locate the kind of restaurant that’s right for you and your budget.  In addition to hours and locations, you will find information on the dining atmosphere, and type of cuisine.
